District Commissioner Bridgend District
I have been in scouting since 1970. I started as a
helper in a cub pack and moved on to become ACL.
before moving to the USA and became a girl scout
leader. On our return to the UK, I rejoined scouting
as a ACSL within West Yorkshire, where our pack had
36 cubs, each enjoying lots of camps, hikes and
many outdoor activities.
With work and a young family, we moved to the West
Midlands, where I joined my son’s cub pack which did
not have a leader, so I took on the role of leader.
In 1978, we moved home to Wales and located within
the Bridgend scout district, where I took on the role of
DCSL, working with local cubs and scouts.
I ran a number of packs and a scout troop, training
parents to take on the role as a leader and I am glad
to say, a number of these leaders are still working in
the Bridgend district today.
After this, I took on the role of A.C. Cub Scouts,
working within Mid Glamorgan with the cub scouts. In
2008, I was asked to take on the role of District
Commissioner of Bridgend (DC) Which I did and
worked hard to build a good team of leaders in each
of our ten groups. Currently we have 10 groups of
beaver scouts, 10 cub packs, 9 scout troops and one
explorer scout unit.
Scouting gives a lot of fun and you can have a very
happy time working with a lot of different people.
We always need new helpers, leaders and friends in
scouting, so if you have a little time make a call and
come and meet us.
Yours in Scouting
